Learn essential survival skills on a weekend survival course in South Wales. Led by an ex-military chief instructor, the Friday to Sunday survival course not only teaches basic bushcraft and survival skills, but is exhilarating, immensely rewarding and great fun!

You'll learn how to collect, purify and filter water, light fires by various means including friction, and how to make a basic shelter. You'll also learn to source food and identify edible, medicinal and poisonous plants and fungi, and then how to cook them using an open fire.

Direction finding can be essential in emergency situations. Learn basic compass and map reading, along with navigational techniques using just the sun, stars and planets as your guide. You and your fellow survival course campmates (small groups of up to 12 or 15 people), also receive medical emergency training and instruction on mountain safety. All of this potentially life-saving training takes place in the stunningly beautiful surroundings of the Brecon Beacons.

Additional Information

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Age: Over 18's only please.
  • You must be capable of physical activity and exercise.


WHAT TO BRING:

  • After booking, you will receive a comprehensive kit list of items to bring with you on your Weekend Survival Course.
  • The majority of items on the list - sleeping bags, wet weather clothing, walking shoes etc – most people already possess.


MEALS ETC:

  • Vegetarians can be catered for on the Survival Course.
  • On Friday night, eat before you come or bring rations if you prefer.
  • Breakfast is provided on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The Saturday night meal will consist of food sourced during the day. You may bring snacks with you if you wish.


AVAILABILITY:

  • Take the Survival Course on selected weekends throughout the year.
  • Start Time: 20.00hrs Friday evening.
  • End Time: Approx 13.00hrs on Sunday.


LOCATION:

  • Brecon Beacons, Wales.


WEATHER:

  • The Weekend Survival Course takes place irrespective of most weather conditions.
